Labor and Rest

9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
I read a devotional about entering God’s rest. It said that we can work trying to learn about God , or rest getting to know him. As I pondered this, I wondered exactly what was the difference. I mean, the actions are the same, but there is a big difference in our focus.
Are we looking for his principles? His promises? His power? Or His presence?
I gotta be honest, I’ve been looking for principles of faith, promises of health and the power of the anointing. All of which are good, but I stopped short. What Jesus told the blind man comes to mind; look up! J
The Lord loves us so much! He is our source of everything, from health and happiness to prosperity and peace. And every other good thing.
So what did verse 12 have to do with verses 9 and 11? (this is so exciting! ) he is the word! The word is a physical manifestation of Jesus! We hold in our hands our savior, redeemer, provider, healer, and Lord. The ‘word of His power’ that upholds all things is sitting on our tables. Wow! But like medicine in a bottle, it will not do us any good just sitting there. He is the bread of life;eat him!
It’s not about works, but getting to know Him. That is the labor for the rest.
I love you all.
healed by His stripes,
Nancy Bass
