Believe the Love

1 John 4:16-19 says ‘Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God has God living inside, and that person lives in God.16 And so we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love. God is love. Those who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.17 This is how love is made perfect in us: that we can be without fear on the day God judges us, because in this world we are like him.18 Where God's love is, there is no fear, because God's perfect love drives out fear. It is punishment that makes a person fear, so love is not made perfect in the person who fears. 19 We love because God first loved us.’

I used to think God loves me because He has to, since He is love, or because He said He would and can’t lie, or something. Actually, the Lord delights in loving me and you. I am praying for more understanding of this love so I can believe more and receive more. As my favorite preacher says, the Lord loved us with His whole heart before He ever said ‘let there be light’. He loves us and believes in us even when we are stupid, rebellious, even blasphemous. He loves loving us. Nothing makes our Father happier than getting to love us. Isn’t that freeing? He actually sings over us! (the bible tells of it in one of the prophets) we’re His (I’m not spelling this right) ‘omsegoolah’, Hebrew for ‘precious treasure’. You are so precious to Him! He made only you like you because you are so special. I want you to wallow in that thought today, like a pig enjoys a mudhole. Get immersed in it. Cover yourself in it by saying ‘my Father loves me because He wants to. He loves me as much as He loves Jesus. I am His favorite, His precious one. He sings over me. He loves me! ‘
