Hello everyone. I was momentarily identified as spam by Verizon.net, but I think it’s cleared up now. Every day, I read the proverb that corresponds with the day of the month and five psalms. (1-5 on the 1st, 6-10 on the 2nd, etc.) they are all short except psalm 119; I read it alone that day. Anyway, I would recommend it to everyone. It only takes about 10-15 minutes and gives you some good wisdom and some good God – praisin’. I add some new testament later in the day, too, but if you are just starting a routine, the psalms and proverbs is an excellent start.
This psalm came up in today’s reading. They were all good today! But this one had some hints about how to get your prayers heard… Oops , I got ahead. Psalm 66, verses 16-20.
16 Come and listen, all you who fear God,
and I will tell you what he did for me.
17 For I cried out to him for help,
praising him as I spoke.
18 If I had not confessed the sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
19 But God did listen!
He paid attention to my prayer.
20 Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer
or withdraw his unfailing love from me.
The first thing I noticed was as he cried out for help, he praised the Lord. Does the Lord need to be buttered up, like He’s not already deeply yearning to bless us? No! We praise the Lord to remind us how big and awesome He is, and that nothing is impossible with God. The next thing I noticed is he confessed his sin. Why? God already knows. Again, it’s for us. In 1 John, the bible says that if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have confidence before God. Confidence equals faith. So we confess to get clean, and we can pray in confidence when we are clean. 1 John says that we know He hears us and answers us. That is cool. Cooooool!
I love you all. Be blessed and virus-free, in Jesus name. Pray for the Bass children here, that these coughs and fevers will die and disappear in the name of Jesus. And they will not spread!
healed by His stripes,
Nancy
